After Effects

I have finished Grandma and Grandpa's christmas gifts! It's two days late, but better late then never right?

Our christmas here was rather interesting, the kids are adorable when opening gifts! There were a TON of boxes wrapped with shinny paper and ribbons that entertained Isabelle to no end! That and a laser pointer from the air-soft-gun that Jamie got. She was so tired afterwords!

Since mom (their grandma) couldn't be there for the first christmas I set up my lovely laptop so that it's built in webcam could record the whole thing. Too damn bad it takes up so much of my memory! We put it on Neil's external till mom can see it.

My best friend and non-blood-related sister gave me an awesome Domo manga book! I"m saving it for a day when I miss her. She also got me this neat snap on top thingy for my soda cans. It's really neat, it's great for when I"m driving in the car as well (tested that out on christmas day).

Neil works hard, I try to work hard, did some crafts, which there are pictures of. Love my latest jewelry frame.

Jobs

Oh Jobs, where have you gone? Why are you nowhere to be found? Are you angry, Jobs? We need you to make money, but you are unavailable to us. Without you life seems rather boring and stale; with you it's fulfilling and less lonely. Where have you gone? Will you at least send us a post card?

Aside from being jobless the drama in this house has yet to end! Children bring PLENTY of drama, but you expect some adult drama... or rather you sometimes wish for it just to get things more interesting. So far all the adult drama is something I'd like to trade in for more classy stuff.

There were three "plays" the children had, only was able to go to one of them. Megan's was cute but shorter then I thought it would be. They are First Graders after all. Then Jamie's I couldn't go to and he got the time wrong anyway. Lauren's was last night and I was unable to go to that one as well.

Good personal news: yesterday I had lost 2.7lbs in two weeks, now I've lost 2.2lbs since yesterday!

Still haven't seen New Moon. Neither Lisa nor myself. This is sad.

Some Christmas Photos

The top one is a few pictures put together (for fun) so that the whole area could be seen in detail. These aren't the only decorations but I didn't want to fill the whole blog up until I get the rest of them decorated.

Strawberry-Vanilla Bank Suckers

Library for me! Woots! Got a book and two movies. I say it's a good day. Oh, plus when I went to the bank earlier, the lady-teller gave me a bunch of strawberry-vanilla bank suckers that I like. I mentioned it once to her and she remembered! Isn't that sweet?

The walk was good for me. Exercise and fresh moist air. It's a bit dizzily here, but I like it. It helped me to think of things and how to help my friends that need it. Still have nothing helpful, but I did get to talk to Emily for a few minutes. I miss her.

Momi was walking her malamutes (sp?)! Cooper and Xena are so adorable! Sissy kitty was fallowing them around as if on the walk with them, she is a beautiful full black cat.

Absolutely LOVED the latest episode of NCIS. Reminds me of how my dad would have been in that kind of situation.

Off to read her daily NPR news and suck on one of the strawberry-vanilla bank suckers. Yummy.

Old Chair

Hello all!

Aside from feeling like shit (migraine causing nausea and vomiting), I am watching more things on Hulu (which I am so loving!) Right now it's "The Listener" which is rather neat.

Now here is the major part of my blog: I was laying on our bed and I looked over at the chair, the one Dan gave me! It's something he saved from the dumpster and I love it. Aside from the stains and old fabric I love this chair. Granted the arm chairs could be a bit more comfy, but I love it none-the-less. Should I re-cover (what is it called again?) the chair? Should I knit the new cover? Should I find fabric and cover it? Do you take off the old fabric before you cover it? Do you fill in more foam/comfy-stuff? Man I wish someone would answer my questions with their opnions on how to do this.

Bye all!

Nursery Ryme

Cold and raw the north wind doth blow,
Bleak in the morning early;
All the hills are covered with snow,
And winter's now come fairly.

I didn't get the job afterall.

Helpless But Hopeful

How is it that just when things look up something twice as bad falls on you? I am very helpless to help those who I love.

On a happier note I made brownies from scratch today and they turned out rather well.

Sorry for my absence, I will resume posting soon. Hopefully by this weekend.

Who likes pie?

Pie is awesome. On a related note there are pictures of my apple pies I baked a few days ago... sketchy on the date, but that's what cameras with time stamps are for.

This is the "frankenstein-pie-crust" because the pie dough was being disobedient...
Who cares what it looks like once you get that yummy pie mix in! Don't forget the butter... (did on the second apple pie).
A pretty design to go with it.And it comes out beautiful! A bit odd but still pretty neat, no?This is the second one made a day or two later before it went into the oven. Isn't it pretty too? The pie dough did better since I used my recipe (posted at end of this entry).

Now for the mini pumpkin pies that I did yesterday. It was suppose to be our craft for the weekend but poor miss Megan (the youngest) was still sick (and is today as well, poor baby). That and Lauren called me a "fat butt" in a hurtful tone. I wanted to smack her mouth as soon as I heard her say that because you don't say that to someone, but she isn't my kid. Just for the record it wouldn't be a "you beat the kid!?" type of smack but a "surprise but not that painful" type of smack. I refuse to beat a kid, spanking as discipline (not a beating kind of hard spanking) is okay.

I could go on with what I believe is right when raising a kid but this is about pies and I don't have any kids so I really don't get a say do I?

Before on top, after on bottom. They did make 24 like the recipe said. Link to recipe.

And no post would be complete without the vase of beautiful flowers Lauren put together for me.

Wanted: Twilight/New Moon Craft Projects

As the title says, I am in need of craft projects I can do with the kids (preferably all three, the two girls and boy, but it usually ends up just us girls) that are related to Twilight and/or the New Moon movie coming out (not soon enough!!!).

Please please PLEASE help me! I'm searching the web and there are so many wonderful ideas floating around but I'm still not finding ones that a 7 year old can do... help?

A Bit Worried

Getting a bit worried about all this memory lose and slurring of words (left side "droopy"). It's not just me, Neil, my best friend N, mom, dad, even the kids ask why my words are slurred (not like that but still). With all my migraines, memory loss, slurring of words, ,and droopy face, I"m getting seriously worried. Talked to Dr. G but he played it off as depression and not paying attention.

Job hunting on top of this whole settlement thing has got me seriously stressed out. Not to mention MONEY! The constant/daily pain (back/leg) on top of migraines and memory loss things have really got me worried. ON top of all this no one wants to hire me! I've applied at so many different places and have been rejected by all of them! I don't think I should even get a job till this whole fucking settlement is over! (less stress maybe?)

This is just almost too much for me to handle. If I didn't have my soul-mate/life partner to lean on for this I know I would have gone insane.

Plus on all top this is dad constantly nagging me about my weight saying that's why I'm not getting hired! His daughter is sickly skin and bones! A pot smocking, drug junky that is taking advantage of her family (mom & dad), well I guess that includes us too!... HA! I may love her because she's family but we certainly do not like her. I try so fucking hard everyday to hold my tong and be nice/polite as I can be but she still manages to do such petty things to me in return! For example: She's turning dad agents me. Yes you read right. This man who I look up to as my second father said to someone on the phone, introducing me as his wife's daughter and that was ... something (forgot) and that HIS daughter is doing so great. It seems that I am no longer his step-daughter but just a less of a side note "wife's daughter."

UGH!!

No wonder I can't find a job?

Please there are NO jobs out there even the unemployment people said that they can't help me.

Please god, please, if it is right let the settlement end in our favor quickly so our money woes will help lesson our sorrows/issues, so that we can more on in a more positive way.

Rubber Spatula

Dear readers and friends, I am in desperate need of rubber spatulas! There is only one now and it's a big one, not to mention it's beginning to rip. Since Christmas is coming up I'm going to hint for two things this year: one being the rubber spatula and the second being a single hole punch.

Now moving on to the good stuff. COOKIES!!! The past week has been like a cookie factory here! I've been making many cookies for the family and enjoying wearing my apron. ^_^ I love wearing aprons, I'd wear one all day if I could.

Here's a taste of the snow we got. Not very much but it stuck! I talked to UB today and he doesn't like the snow, but then again, he has to shovel it around... I'm "lucky" to have back problems so I don't have to shovel. ((being sarcastic))

Thinking about maybe my New Years Resolution (sp?) should be to do 100 knitting projects in 2010.

Autumn Clock

As you may have well figured out, the wall clock is on hold. Not only did the nature walks go a little badly, but the clock face part is no more. The wood for the clock was far to thick and when Dave went to cut a hole (kinda) into it to let the clock-machine-part sit in the wood, it kinda broke. Probably for the better I think. Mainly because it was so thick and also it would have been harder to find another cheap clock for the thick wood.

Anyways. Ideas for a good material for a wall-clock-back-thing would be appreciated. Please remember we're going to put leaves we found on the nature walks on it with glue, kind of layering the leafs.

Fall Garlands

Finally have the fall garlands up! It was a two day process because of, well, pain for one, but the major thing was not having some of the materials. Such as the lights, 5 more feet of the leaves, and Isabelle helping out. No idea why she likes them lights so much, or the face greenery.

My camera wont take a picture of the whole thing very well, there are only 6 panels of window.
My favorite picture of it! Isn't that neat? They are two different types of garlands that I twisted together with the string of lights.
Neat, uh?

Jewelry Frames

First off before there are pictures, just wanted to make a note that my Title place for my entries does NOT have spell check on it... very saddening.

This is going to be one loooong post with pictures!

Starting out, this is what I was going for: (this is *NOT* mine)

Now on to getting some starting supplies, using the old leftover wood from the latuse Dave had Neil and I cut out pretty equal sized pieces of wood for the frame. Since it was outside and dirty I felt the need to disinfect it... I'm SO weird. There in this picture you will see my purse, water bottle, and some tea from Snapple (on sale at slaveway!)

After cleaning them, they were painted, let dry in the nice sun, painted again, and dried again.
After using a hot glue gun to glue the frame together I painted on the word "AUTUMN" in a brown-ish color, flipped the frame over and hot glued some festive fall themed ribbons to the back.

See? The wood isn't that even, but it's left overs so who really cares, it looks more handmade that way.

Glue on some fake fall leaves and there you go. (Would have preferred REAL fall leaves, but they are just now turning more and more, will use real leaves for a later project) Also, I didn't like the bright-semi-clear blue push-pins so I painted them to match the rest of the project.

Now on the the girls doing the project!!!

I love this art table that I had when I was a little girl. There is a brown paper roll that just comes right out! I used that as a table cover so the paint can be directly on the paper (easy clean up and easy mixing of colors).
Lauren is seen here rocking out to the Rob Zombie we had playing.
Megan's is on top, and Lauren's is on the bottom. This is before the gluing of things!
Lauren's is very much symmetrical, she's like her Aunty that way. Since she's older she got to help a little with the glue gun. She's very proud of this one as well she should be!
This is Megan's!!! She has it displayed on the bottom bunk, hers! She's so creative that it's dimend shaped and not square like Lauren's.

Bag

I am sad to say that I did not get any pictures of the finished bag before I sent it off. Those ones circulating the net from me were the pre-finished ones. Turns out I did the drawstring part of it wrong. Which probably was for the better anyways, the wool fibers would have made it so hard to use after a bit. Instead of the yellow wool I found this black cord-yarn thing and used that. Apparently that yarn is used for rugs and such, but it did it's job perfectly.

Kick-Butt Bag

My friend N's bag that I'm making her is kicking my butt. I am NOT giving up on the project, just stating the fact that the bag looks nothing like the picture in the book! The line thingy you see is where the holes/loops are for the drawstring part.... I'm not done with the bag.

Toothbrush Bracelet

The other day I made a bracelet out of an old toothbrush. The white one's plastic is far too thick to bend. The clear kind is rather easy becuase it's not as dense you know, and easier to shape when it's in the boiling water.

When you start out you get all those bristles out, make sure you get those little metal clips out that are holding the bristles together in the holes on the head of the brush. That takes the longest. That and waiting for the water to boil. It took me about an hour to do it all because I had to try out that white one.... still didn't work, threw it away.

Also... make sure you don't do what I did... made it far too small and none of the kids can fit their hands threw it. It looks pretty neat though right?

Freaky Bread

Made some (honey in place of sugar) bread yesterday... yeah they kinda exploded upwords and one (right loaf) got stuck to the top of the oven. It was so hard to get it out! I tried my best and only hurt it a little. I wanted you guys to see it! The one on the right was the bad one. The one on the left was a little bit nicer in size. I try to make them a bit smaller to fit inside the tupperware container mom likes to have the bread stored in, but as you can see, these guys didn't want to stick to the status-quo (sp?).

Finished Sock No. 3

Woots for me! Finished my second sock ever!! I'm a bit concerned that it wont fit a full grown man (for my dad). I did what the measurements said, but I'm worried that this sock pattern isn't for men but for small footed women. *sigh* But here's a picture of the finished Sock No. 3!!!

Pictures

Above is the current screen shot. I really like this wallpaper/background thingy.

Below is the hats I've finished. The big one's V's and the smaller one is for his daughter. Granted it's far from using them, still. The soda is so you can get an idea how big they are.

Movie Review

Okay, mainly this post is to let you know I'm alive and well... it could be better, but it also could be worse. Got that from my friend S who I got to talk to for like 20 minutes. Another one of those phone conversations that even though you haven't spoken in like a year you are all caught up and totally in sync.

Just saw the G.I. JOE movie and have to say it is awesome. Deferentially a high explosive, machine/gun, ninja sward fighting, and amazing high tech things. So a guy movie, and a movie for us girls that like things like that (there are a few scenes with shirtless guys, working out... worth the like combined 5 minutes of it). So it's an adrenalin pumped up ride with high intense screen shaking and fast pace scenes. Overall well worth it.

Now on to something fuzzy baby related: There has been windy days here on this end of the internet and the windows are open. With the cross-breezes there are many slaming doors. Poor Sammy was stuck in a room for a whole day! I was noticing he wasn't coming out from under the bed but didn't think much of it. When I was getting ready for bed I heard this scratching type sound (he has no claws) on the door. HE WAS IN THE ROOM ALONE! My poor baby came racing out of the room with wide eyes. He'd been trying to get out all day! I"m such a bad mom.

On to projects. Yeah... aside from a hat, an attempted tea cozy (still not started really), and a bag for friend and non-blood sister N. The hat maybe too big now that I've knitted during the movie... when the scenes get intense the knitting becomes intense so I'm going to mesure it and make sure it's not too long...

Just measured... need another 1/2 an inch. Domo is my marker by the way.

H.M.B.

H.M.B. = Honey Made Bread.

I made some bread using my sisters way, with honey not sugar. It tastes awesome! Though I did let it rise overnight because it just wouldn't rise the day before yesterday. (made bread yesterday) Next time I"m taking pictures before everyone devours the bread. There is like maybe a couple of slices left.

I love Twitter... it's so much fun and I find out more things threw that site then threw a lot of other places. And also "fallowing" NPR and various other news sites like that. Plus a couple celebrity/smut magazine website's twitter accounts... it's sad isn't it? That's my guilty pleasure.

Avatar

Fan girly sqwee! Vito has lent us (basically me) the full series of Avatar - The Last Airbender! So loving it. Said it many times before and I stand by it.

Now on to the good stuff. I have finished the scarf and am attempting to move onto the large back of yarn (more sqwee) N gave me.

Internet Junckyard 3

The meaning of life.

On the first day, God created the dog and said: 'Sit all day by the door of your house and bark at anyone who comes in or walks past. For this, I will give you a life span of twenty years.'

The dog said: 'That's a long time to be barking. How about only ten years and I'll give you back the other ten?'

So God agreed.

On the second day, God created the monkey and said: 'Entertain people, do tricks, and make them laugh. For this, I'll give you a twenty-year life span.'

The monkey said: 'Monkey tricks for twenty years? That's a pretty long time to perform. How about I give you back ten like the Dog did?'

And God agreed.

On the third day, God created the cow and said: 'You must go into the field with the farmer all day long and suffer under the sun, have calves and give milk to support the farmer's family. For this, I will give you a life span of sixty years.'

The cow said: 'That's kind of a tough life you want me to live for sixty years. How about twenty and I'll give back the other forty?'

And God agreed again..

On the fourth day, God created man and said: 'Eat, sleep, play, marry and enjoy your life. For this, I'll give you twenty years.'

But man said: 'Only twenty years? Could you possibly give me my twenty, the forty the cow gave back, the ten the monkey gave back, and the ten the dog gave back; that makes eighty, okay?'

'Okay,' said God, 'You asked for it.'

So that is why for our first twenty years we eat, sleep, play and enjoy ourselves. For the next forty years we slave in the sun to support our family. For the next ten years we do monkey tricks to entertain the grandchildren. And for the last ten years we sit on the front porch and bark at everyone.
Life has now been explained to you.

There is no need to thank me for this valuable information.. I'm doing it as a public service..

HOT

Two major things

1. I didn't get the hospital job... very sad about it, but after I sulk a bit today (and eat another frozen almond snickers bar) I'm hitting the newspapers, creigslist, various webpages in search for a job... wish me luck.

2. I don't get online for two days (Nickelodeon's Avatar - The Last Airbender marathon) and everything on the internets piles up till it reaches my ears! I have so many tweets to look threw (more entertaining then the emails I have to say). Why does everthing pile up?

Found

Missing skittle found.

Two dogs got into our yard (not uncommon, just the one, but this time he had a friend with him). Generally harmless and I just put a leash on them and take them to their back yard. Neighbors are good people.

Anyways, I leaned over to unlatch the neighbors gate door and I hear the sound of an orange skittle falling onto the cement ground. My only guess is that it decided to attach itself to the inside of my tang top until that time.

Call of the search parties.

Harry Potter Stole My Skittle

Just saw Harry Potter 6 and have to say they did a very nice job with it. The didn't get into details like they have in the past and they did switch and move things around and take things out and put things in, but overall it was very well done.

Now for the matter of the missing skittle. Yes, a missing one. I was eating and knitting while watching the movie... when one skittle slipped from my yarn entangled fingers and plopped down my shirt. As you know it's human nature to fish after it... even though it's in public. So I dived in, annoyed that I missed a part of the movie. There was no skittle to be found. I practically took of my top (not really but I felt like it) I was searching discreetly under my tang top (I was covered by my button-up shirt I took with me so I would be modest). THERE STILL WAS NO SKITTLE!

It has vanished.

Great news: No animals were harmed in the making/filming of the Harry Potter 6 movie. Wish I could take the kids for the 5 o'clock showing... to find that skittle.

Harry Potter is comming out!

I live in a small town... going to the local theater to watch it tomorrow. Excited but worried about a line...

Weeding again!

I weeded again... and hurt myself in the process... now I'm chair-redden (verses bed-ridden). Got a lot of weeding done.

Here's the latest picture of Sammy. He hates the camera so much.

Sunday, July 05, 2009

weeding

Despite hating dirt and bugs, both pretty much equally, I weeded the entire front yard. That's right. ALL OF IT. I did miss a few crab-grass-weeds but I'll get those later, the ground is being watered in that area and the dirt became mud, not something worth waddling into for just a few weeds.

The fireworks, while I've never really thought they were that big of a deal, were rather fun. Dave burned himself a few times and added lighter-fluid when one wouldn't start... I was so scared he would blow off a limb or something, but to his good fortune that was not the case. Breath easy.

I have to get this off my chest. SciFi is now Syfy. WTF? Why are they changing it now? It's an icon. SciFi with the "iF" things they do. WHY!!! *dramatic why*

Wish I had pictures for you.

dough too doughy

“Ma’am” has nothing to do with “Mammy,” it’s shortened “Madam(e).” How do you get into your adult life without knowing this?

Found that quote somewhere and it kinds makes you wonder.

Making bread right now and it's still too wet. Trying to find how to make it with honey and not sugar.

Mom and dad left with the aunts and grandma. The house is half empty and I don't think the kids know what to do.

Neil is pretty stressed out with the odd hours and the stress of family. I wish I could do something to help him. All I can do is just be here for him.

Anyways, just off the the library now.

Sunscreen and Chips

It has been awesome! I love having family close. I really hope I can visit them at their homes, though that would be inviting myself wouldn't it? They are such good people. I just want us to be a part of each others lives.

The kids are amazing. They are just perfect! Annoying and disobedient but still wonderful. Would we have it any other way? Sure they're ours but they are pretty good looking kids. They are! They all have sunscreen on and are eating chips- so adorable! They are all wet, even the one that almost drowned yesterday. We're so happy he got back into the water so he wont be afraid of it. He is okay, just swallowed too much water and had to have it beat out of him. That sounds a lot more violent then what it was. I had NO idea what happened till today. Does that make me a bad Aunt/Cousin? I feel so terrible. Cousin K's son. She's so gorgeous! Very jealous. Also I think Cousin J's wife (also cousin J) lost some weight since I saw her last. I should tell her but she's just now opening up to me so I don't want to get on personal subjects just yet. She is such a beautiful woman too.

Cousins will be leaving today and the rest tomorrow (including mom and dad). They will be missed. It will be one empty house, well almost. The three kids will still be here, but without the other three kids it will seem like half of them are missing. Half is true- 3 and 3. I should be out there with them, but walking around town all day has taken it out of me again. So many people's energies it gets to me. Plus my leg is hurting (back too, but not as much). Not nearly as bad as before though. Just thought I should clarify that.

Tequila and Salt

This should probably be taped to your bathroom mirror where one could read it everyday. You may not realize it, but it's 100% true:
1. There are at least two people in this world that you would die for.
2. At least 15 people in this world love you in some way.
3. The only reason anyone would ever hate you is because they want to be just like you.
4. A smile from you can bring happiness to anyone, even if they don't like you.
5. Every night, SOMEONE thinks about you before they go to sleep.
6. You mean the world to someone.
7. You are special and unique.
8. Someone that you don't even know exists loves you.
9. When you make the biggest mistake ever, something good comes from it.
10. When you think the world has turned its back on you take another look.
11. Always remember the compliments you received. Forget about the rude remarks.

And always remember....when life hands you Lemons, ask for tequila and salt, and call me over!

Library Card

I have come to realize that the "newly established" library card has brought into my life new reading, and entertainment, possibilities. Any books to recommend my way? Please give me some opinions! And by the way, the library card was gotten in 2002... so it's really "new".

Now it's cheaper to ride the bus to my chiropractor appointment then to drive, it used to be cheaper the other way around.

Sammy has decided that since his daddy, my honey, got up the past couple of days at 5:15am that he will play with me and wake me up, pissed that daddy got up and disturbed *HIS* sleep. He sleeps all day! I go and hunt him down, drag him out from his sleeping bag (under the bed, my side) and smuther him with loves. Alas, this does not help. He still is determined to get back at us for his sleep disturbances.

Star Treak

Star Trek is AWESOME!!! Honestly, go see it. You will not be sorry. I told my honey after we saw it that I wanted to see it again RIGHT NOW. So amazing... seriously, go see it. It is something worth the 6$ (if your local and see it before, what is it, 6? o'clock) and popcorn (recommend popcorn a lot, but it's been making me rather ill lately... fake butter maybe), a soda if you wish, and maybe even some candy. Granted the movie is about 2 hours long, so make sure you go before you get into your seat.

Go see it, and bring me with you!

Twitter

Twitter has captured my attention. Since I've been waiting by the computer constantly in between taking photos of the kids, knitting, reading, and making tea- where was I? Oh yes, I've taken up Twitter interests because of computer bound emails telling me about wither or not I got the job or if my attorney emails me back about the latest of getting money from the man who hit us. UGH! Frustrating all that is, but a friend is going threw things and taking it out on us.

Anyways, back to the twitter thingy. I like it becuase I can subscribe to others posts and my two non-personal favortie posters are NPR and The Onion. Now I'm excited to read the news more instead of hitting the Yahoo! site and seeing what the posted on there. I like the simplicity of the twitter posts.

I'm still afraid of birds and wished that Twitter was named something else, even though it wouln't make sense otherwise.

Ugly Sock 2

The Yellow/Green line shows where the knitted part is, the red where the toes are.
