Internet Junkyard #11

Some of you, my dear readers have noticed that I skipped from the last Internet Junkyard (#10) all the way to #15 with #11, #12, #13, and #14. Well, now that I've completely noticed, here is the 11th one, and I will go in order from now on!

An elderly Chinese woman had two large pots, each hung
on the ends of a pole which she carried across her neck.

One of the pots had a crack in it while the other pot
was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water.
At the end of the long walk from the stream to the house,
the cracked pot arrived only half full.

For a full two years this went on daily, with the woman
bringing home only one and a half pots of water.

Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its
accomplishments.

But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own
imperfection, and miserable that it could only do
half of what it had been made to do.

After 2 years of what it perceived to be bitter failure,
it spoke to the woman one day by the stream.

"I am ashamed of myself, because this crack in my side
causes water to leak out all the way back to your house."

The old woman smiled, "Did you notice that there are
flowers on your side of the path, but not on the other pot's side?"

"That's because I have always known about your flaw, so I planted
flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we
walk back, you water them."

"For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to
decorate the table. Without you being just the way you are,
there would not be this beauty to grace the house."

Each of us has our own unique flaw. But it's the cracks and flaws we
each have that make our lives together so very interesting and rewarding.

You've just got to take each person for what they
are and look for the good in them.

So, to all of my crackpot friends, have a great day and remember
to smell the flowers on your side of the path.

Porcelain Shrine and Sock

SOCK FINISHED! So happy! The first one is finished! I am just so happy! It would be perfect if I didn't have a migraine and hugging the porcelain shrine. I know, I know. I should be happy that I finished the sock and the men in the house think it fits perfectly! I can only hope that it fits dad since I can't size it on him. Basic pattern from the "Silver's Socks Class" website.

It looks a bit funny to me.

OH! The "Killers" movie was really awesome. It's one that I have to own. Katherine Heigl is always amazing, but she really has portrayed that character wonderfully. Plus Ashton Kutcher is very hot in this movie. Strangely enough this is the only role I like him in. Sure, he's more then likely evolved into a better actor since his last movie (before "Killers"). He is very good looking in this movie. Great plot and really entertaining.

Watching movies while knitting is one of my favorite things. Throwing up during a movie, interrupting my knitting is NOT one of my favorite things. This migraine has been off and on for like 4 days! Enough is enough. What to do? I'm already have taken the Axert a couple of times, Advil more then enough times,  and have used the vicodin several times. I don't like being doped up.

Anyone have ideas to stop Sammy from being such a messy eater?

Opinionated Movies

JUST got done watching "The Crazies" and it is awesome. It's not so much a 'zombie' movie as it is a drama/action/virus movie. The time-frame was perfect, it is set over a few days time and they evened it out perfectly. Characters were awesome. The creatures made it so that it was rather a realistic possibility with the virus/illness, they took parts of real diseases and mixed them to look amazing.. Sure there are moments that you're just like "what the fuck", but the cosmetics were still amazing.

Now onto "Resident Evil: Apocalypse", which we watched in 3D last night. Don't bother watching it in 3D. Lots of action, plenty of awesome shots, but... *SPOILER ALERT* they didn't finish the story, they left it completely open for another one. *END SPOILER ALERT* Needless to say I watched all the way to the end credits and beyond that. Stay for a few minutes, there's something for you to see.

Okay guys, I'm off to watch "Killers" and depending on how it is I'll let you know!

Ah, Headaches

Headaches and migraines. Needless to say they are not fun.

Now that my leg has been "fixed" I have been trying to focus on getting a job. However that means I have to deal with the near weekly migraines and pretty much daily headaches. How can I find a job that will let me work like 6 hours at a time? I got so lucky at my old job and relies now how much I took advantage of my boss's kindness and amazing patience. Don't get me wrong, I am very thankful to have had a great opportunity to experience that kind of work environment.

--- --- ---

Now on to my latest craft project. As many of you know, the youngest's birthday is coming up. I wanted to use this idea I found on the internet about a purse. There were ribbons sewn own the fabric then cut and sewn into a purse. So I thought of a pencil case for her schooling. Great idea right? I mean, Target has had these awesome ribbons in their $1 section, and I have accumulated a lot of them. So I sewed.

Only evidence of my project.

Kids have a way of disappointing me. The youngest has been acting out. She (I can only assume it was her, though cannot be proven and there is the oldest girl and her friends that could have been the ones) went into the craft room, made a HUGE mess with beads, fabric, toys, pens, stamps, stamp pads (she stepped in one on the weekend and made footprints on the floor), and various other things. Imagine if you will the shock I experienced when I walked in to work on her gift. We all know that she wakes up at night and plays around, so it's not far fetched that she would "play" in the craft room. The project is still missing.

What am I going to do? The kids are no longer going to have crafts with me.

I am done.

All my craft supplies will be packed away so I do not have the heartache again. I cried, grieved, and got a headache from the whole ordeal. I am done with them refusing to respect others property time and time again. All the supplies has been played with and/or destroyed, beyond repair.

--- --- ---

Has anyone else noticed this strong stabbing sharp pain from my hip to my index toe on my left leg, or is it just me?  Have to focus on the amazing surgery and "just keep swimmin'".

Season for Hot Beverages

Yup. It's time. Hot tea is in season! Enjoyed it so much yesterday! Ah, so good! You guys need to go out and enjoy the wonderful season. Sit outside with a steeming mug of decaf black tea with a splash of fat-free vanilla 'coffee' creamer, snuggeled in a chunky sweater. THAT'S paradise to me. Cool crispt mornings, chilly days, just enough to wear a sweater, and fresh air. Ah, so love that.

Now as for NYRP #56:

As for this sock, I'm a bit worried.
Photobucket
See how there is a huge spacing? It's really from the space going from one needle to the other needle. How can I perfent that?

Photobucket
Dosen't it look good though?

Pillow Fight

Time has come to say "good-bye" to this pillow. Come tomorrow it will be sent off to the wonderful, talented "Your Favorite Enemies" band for all of them to fight over.

Before we began, I have to tell you that I work up with a wicked migraine (I get one about once a week), but know that this place hasn't been updated in a bit. Needless to say I'm going to shoot for it anyways.

In the begining when it was just a pattern:
Photobucket

And the pattern was pretty good:

Till it decided to turn on my arm:
Photobucket

But then we made our peace and moved on:
Photobucket

It was ironed like above, but then flipped over to revile it's underbelly:
Photobucket

After it sat and waiting for me to find the right black fabric for it, I hunted every fabric store within a 50 mile area and finally found "the one".

Only after the sewing of it was done did I realize that stuffing it threw such a small hole would require more patience then expected. The band would have their pillow so I denied it it's way and procided to stuff it with stuffing:
Photobucket

But it was done, and I needed to find a box that would fit:
Photobucket

And package it all up with an address:

And off it goes come Monday. Hope the band likes it!

Project no. 53 is done!

Cheers

On Monday (yesterday) I took a walk downtown. Since the surgery I have been trying to get in exercise (20 minutes of steady heart rate at a time, at least once a day) and have made my intentions very clear to this family. To make things more intresting I asked the girls to come with me. They came. ON BIKES. They came with me, RIDING THEIR BIKES.

So there I am, almost jogging to keep up with them. Gained 60 pounds after being imobile for 3-ish years so the whole bikes thing was REALLY unfair. Or so I felt.

Right as the house came into view, the girls beat me home (surpsie suprise), I noticed that I was huffing-n-puffing, looking down for only a second when I returned to look at my goal, there were the girls, on the edge of the driveway, cheering me on.

Jumping up and down, yelling out chants with my name and encouraging things. They know how important it is to me to get healthy, and to loose the bad weight.

So aside from my awesome family (8 humans, 4 pets), the Sims 3 games, getting up (walks, Wii, etc.), wonderful library DVDs, knitting projects (none completely finished yet, sorry), and the wonderful weather change (it's getting colder!), life is pretty fucking awesome.

Oddly enough, don't have a job and various other things wrong, life has been the best it has been in a long time. I'm almost scared it wont last.
